A short uphill hike from the scenic parking spot. Make sure you take a minute to enjoy the view!
Follow the signs directing you to Spring Canyon State Park. You will turn south on NM 198 and have to climb a short, very steep portion about 2/3 of the way to the Spring Canyon gate. If you park at the flat spot on the south side of the rocky peak (N32 09.331' W107 36.962'), just passed the "Hill Blocks View" sign, the geocache will be to the east of you. (Sorry about the graffitti and trash!) It's less than a quarter mile from the roadway, but it gets very steep at the top! The geocache is a black standard size ammo can, camouflaged with rocks.
This is our first cache and we stocked it with pencils, rulers, mini-Frisbees, a transformer airplane, a pocket calendar, and misc. other trinkets.
The loose slate crumbles under your feet as you approach the hidden ammo can - please be careful!
