Geocache Description:

This cache is located atop Colonel's Mountain in Palmer - the town's highest point. The site is part of Colonel Mountain Wildlife Management Area, a 427 acre parcel owned by the Mass Division of Fisheries & Wildlife.
The hike up the mountain to the cache is a 1.1 mile hike with some parts that will test your stamina. The cache location affords beautiful views of the Mt. Holyoke Range as well as Mt. Greylock.

The cache itself is an ammo box, painted army green. It's located very close to the main vista on Colonel's Mountain.

Directions:
The wildlife management area is located off of North St. in West Warren - park at 42 13.458N, 072 14.219W.
Take the easy route south from the parking lot and follow the path back around to the north, and eventually to the pond. As you leave the pond, stay to the right where the 4WD trail splits, and you'll find a path very shortly after that split that heads up the hill toward the east. Follow this trail, staying left at all splits.
No bushwacking is necessary - follow the trail to 42 13.993N 072 14.085W. This is where you turn southwest and head to the cache and the vista!
On your way back from the cache, just after you approach the pond, a trail heads off to the right - down to a beautiful pond - a great location to visit in winter time, where you can head out on the ice and see Colonel's Mountain where you found the cache!
