Your goal is a small plaque marking the former site of a sports facility on land now occupied by Pixar Animation Studios. The terrain is flat and wheelchair accessible. You can drive within a few yards of the cache and park just feet away. The cache is on the public right-of-way; there is no need to enter Pixar's property.
Pixar Animation Studios, based in Emeryville, CA, has created some of the most successful animated films ever, including Toy Story and its sequel Toy Story 2; A Bug's Life; Monsters, Inc.; and Finding Nemo. Pixar's next release, The Incredibles—featuring a family of superheroes forced to leave behind their suburban life to save the world—is due in theaters for the 2004 holiday season. Slated for a 2005 holiday release is Pixar's Cars, the adventure of classic automobiles on Route 66.
However, the current site occupied by Pixar's studios was, from 1913-1955, the home of the Pacific Coast League's Oakland Oaks. A marker at the site commemorates the Oaks' four championships, and mentions two baseball legends once among the Oaks' ranks. To log this cache, email me the names of those two persons.
You can stroll down the sidewalk and look through Pixar's gates; however, they do not offer tours of their studios. Please don't bother the security guards—despite Pixar's relationship with Disney, the guards don't "Mickey Mouse" around...
