Nahum and Serepta King came to Oregon in 1845 on the Oregon Trail. They settled in a little valley in the Coast Range and named it Kings Valley.
The Kings Valley Cemetery is located on the west side of Highway 223, approximately two miles south of the town of Kings Valley. The cemetery is set back from the highway about one quarter of a mile on a dirt road. There is a gate at the access point to the cemetery, but you can open it and drive through. Please remember to shut it behind you. It's open dawn to dusk.
This cemetery is the second largest in the group of cemeteries situated in the foothills of the Coast Range and overlooking the river valleys. It is probably the oldest, as the first settlers were in this region in 1846 and evidently this area was used from the time of their arrival. There is a stone with an 1850 date.
