Geocache Description:

Located in the woods in Moncton off Highlandview Road.

Story: The city of Moncton once had a street planned to go through this patch of forest and even had it named.. “Haines Crescent”. It was present on the maps in the area as late as the 1990s and is still even showing on Mapquest. I contacted the city about it and this was their response: “Haines Crescent became a registered street many years ago, prior to Lewisville becoming part of the City of Moncton, the construction of Lewisville Middle School and prior to the construction of MacAulley Drive. The land purchased for the school abutted the westerly side of the proposed crescent, eliminating the opportunity to subdivide on both sides of the proposed street, thus making it unprofitable to develop. I am not sure of this, but I believe Haines Crescent may have been developed as the original proposed access to the school property, however, when MacAulley Drive was built, access was taken from that street, thus eliminating the need for Haines to be constructed. “

The coordinates for this cache would have you right in the middle of Haines Crescent, if it would have been created. Cache is a smallish regular cache with a white lid. Please no largish items. Park on Highlandview Road and wander into the woods from here.. you should be able to drive to within 90 Meters or so of the cache from the road. Also BRING A COMPASS!!! the tree cover is thick, hard to get a baring on North and so forth..
