The cache is off the Appalachian Trail between Hightower Gap on the North and Three Forks on the South. The area is open to most cars by way of passable forest service roads but good ground clearance is needed. I suggest you don't bring your Jag.
A few very large Poplar trees (at least 48 inches in diameter) along trail to cache, hence the name. A 100 year old cemetery is close by to explore with very good camping site. The cemetery is on private land but all are welcome to visit and camp. Please follow the rules about fires. For the SHORT end of the trail you may want to check the hints.
Combine this cache with others in the area and you can see mountain tops and water falls on the same visit. This is a easy 1/2 mile walk each way, in a beautiful large timber and fern coverd area of North Georgia. This is good hikeing for the kids.
This is a popular hunting area so if it is hunting season wear flame orange vest and be respectful of the hunters space.

The U.S.Army Rangers have a training camp near here and you may see what you think are ghost in green moving through the forest but they are only our best in training. Be mindful of meeting Hummers as you round the bends in the roads.
