Southstoke is a 'hidden gem' of a village just
south of Bath. This cache, our first, is on the route of one of our
favourite walks in the area.
Suitable parking can be found at Southstoke (OS
748 613). As you come into the village there is a grass triangle -
keep right and park around the triangle - usually easy. For OS map
of the parking location see
this web site.
Head west out of the village, through the gate,
past the church on a tarmac track before joining the footpath that
slopes down across an open field.
We have themed 'Southstoke Stories' as a
'favourite book' cache and hope that those that follow can maintain
the spirit of this. The first book in the cache was one that
FTG&CH's dad read many years ago whilst travelling across
Africa. Partly because it reminds him of a special time, and partly
because it is a fantastic book, it is definitely in his
'favourites' list.
The original contents of the cache (ammo liner)
are:
- Book
- Disposable camera (please take a
snap)
- Logbook, pencil and sharpener
- Bath Bear Travel Bug
- Watercolour set
- Assorted small toys
On return to Southstoke - highly recommend you
visit the local pub - Pack Horse Inn [for more information on the
pub see this web site].
