Geocache Description:

This open space has very few visitors, and is probably unknown to most locals. An island of habitat, this 28.5-acre property is a critical part of the natural environment in Rolling Hills Estates. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and Rolling Hills Estates acquired the Chandler Preserve in 1993.

There are several dirt/rocky trails, circling the property and intersecting also. Some trails lead out of the property to a school and nearby streets.

Best access is from the end of Buckskin Lane, but slow down and watch for the wild peacocks. If you do the entire 0.5 mile loop you will have a great view into a golf course and its nice lake. There are also nice clear day views of the city and distant mountains, as well as horses, stables, and riding rings on nearby properties. Some of the trails are quite steep but not dangerous if you watch your footing. Boots or sturdy shows are recommended. Equestrians do use these trails so watch out for the umgawa.

The cache is a small clear plastic container. Original contents of cache: video game; kid's kazoo; date/time digital watch; $2001 commemerative currency.
