The old feed trough burned up in a fire a few years after this was placed, but the ammo can is just fine.
Yes, I carried an ammo can all the way back here! All you have to do is find the old trough and you’ll be able to find the cache- it’s sitting right inside of it. I wanted to put it inside whatever that can is attached to the tree nearby, but I couldn’t get it open. I’m not worried about muggles discovering the cache, because only Geocachers and Huntnlady are crazy enough to look in the old trough in the first place.
In 2003, not far from here, I killed the largest black bear ever taken in Napa Co. Keep this in mind when you are in the area, but don't let it make you miss out on the charm of this wilderness canyon. Be sure to record the data set for the coordinates to the 9 Mile Loop cache.
After you have found and traded at this cache, retrace your steps to the fire road so you won't miss the pretty little pond. If you head across country to the next cache you will be making it hard on yourself as well as filling your socks with stickers.
