This is up on the ridge section of the Long Canyon loop. If you are coming back, (generally South,) along the ridge trail, there is a small dry pond on the other side of the fence, with a fainter fire road that leads downhill on the North side of the tiny dry pond. Go through the open wire gate in the fence, and about 100 feet up the hill to the cache.
Once you find the cache, if you want to go over the top of this hill you get a good view to the West, but it is mostly chaparral. I did hunt the firebreak Southwest down this ridge, and actually found a tiny pond with water in it, and lots of deer tracks but no shade, so I figure they water at night.
Go back through the fence gate, staying on the main fire road after leaving the cache.
Be sure to record the data set for the coordinates to the 9 Mile Loop cache.
