This is a four part cache. The first two by car and the second two by foot on level terrian.
The difficulty level COULD be a 4, depending on winter conditions, when searching for the third waypoint.
The cache is in a 50mm ammo container with many things for adults,children and even a pet,if you have one along.
It starts with a bit of history and even a math lesson which is kind of easy but could be fun for the kids. This area is part of the movement of revolutionary troops back in 1779, led by Generals Sullivan and Clinton being avenged by Brits and indians. It will take you to an area that must have turned the westward movenent either to the south or the north.
NOTE!!!! ONLY COUNT THE SOLDIERS, HORSES AND INDIANS THAT ARE VISIBLE AND NOT THE ONES THAT YOU CAN'T SEE.
Code: From the plaque count the:
a = Number of indians - 3
b = " " soldiers on left + 2
c = " " indians - 1
d = " " horses
e = " " indians
f = " " soldiers on the right
g = " " " " " left - 3
h = " " " " " "
i = " " " " " right - 2
j = " " all soldiers - 10
Once you figure out the code and leave this area be sure to take in the view that those troops must have come up against,at:(code) N gc gc.aeg w ahh gd.hbb.
Your next clue can be found at: N gc ga.bbf W ahh gc dbe
This code will be required to complete the rest of your journey, so keep it handy.
A bit more history: Just a few miles to the west of the cache area at Groveland Hill, General Sullivans troops were overcome by an indian ambush. Fifteen scouts were killed and one officer,Lt.Thomas Boyd and a Sgt.Michael Parker, were taken captive by the tribe of indians. Lt.Boyd and Sgt.Parker were found days later in a Seneca indian encapement, ten miles to the northwest. They had been bound to what is now known as "The Torture Tree" in Cuylerville NY. They had been tortured and left to die. This was to be the last westward movement by Gen.Sullivans troops.
Hope you enjoy the journey, the history and the math.
Bo says "only one snack per dog" from the cache.
