2 part multi-cache that takes you to a park. You'll need your car or bike because the two stages are a few miles apart. The area of the final location is a good spot to fish or bird watch. People bring their dogs to run off-leash here.
History disclaimer: We admit, there is no Fort Tualitan. The name comes from a tree fort we saw near the parking area.
The container is a camo-painted small ammo box.
At the first location you don't need to get out of your car.
Park and look across the street (NW) at a brown sign.
Count the number of legs of all the mammals listed on the sign and add that value to the number that is printed on the sign. Use this total to find the cache hiding spot.
Without crossing any rivers, drive a few miles then leave your car here:
45 20.952
122 40.601
We had to take a number of readings and average them, so don't expect the coordinates to be "spot-on".
Take the number you calculated at the sign and call it X.
(X/2) - 115 = AAA
Take the number you calculated at the sign and reverse the order of the digits and call that value Y. Example, if the number you calculated at the sign was 123, then Y would be 321.
Y - 5629 = BBB
Coordinates for cache container:
45 20 AAA
122 40 BBB
Making a beeline from car to cache is a bad idea. No bushwacking necessary. Cross the field staying parallel with the road until you find a well established trail and follow that. When the trail curves around a pond you'll know your geo-senses are working.
