The gold mine Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Greatland Reviewer: Archiving at the Land Owner's request. Please read the e-mail sent on August 29, 2015, with the subject line "[GEO] From Greatland Reviewer: Caches on Private Land in Hatcher Pass" for details.

For all other interested cachers:

A representative of Gold Cord Mine, Mountain Heather Investments LLC, contacted me and requested archival of a dozen geocsaches that are on private land without permission in the Hatcher Pass area. An increase in active gold mining that includes surface blasting which creates a public safety hazard and geocachers’ reluctance to leave the area even when warned about their trespass and immanent blasting prompted the request. .

Ownership information may be reviewed at http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmaps.matsugov.us%2Farcgis%2Frest%2Fservices%2FParcelViewer%2FMapServer&source=sd . You will have to manually zoom close enough into the to the area of interest to see the parcel boundaries and select Measure, Location and pick Degrees or DMS. Coordinates will now display when moving the cursor on the map.

Geocache Description:

This is a tupperware container planted by the OAP Group as part of a gold panning hike above the mine.

We found a nice spot with a beautiful view of the the mine and the valley. This cache contains neat stuff donated by the students of the OAP gang. We also picked up a lot of trash while we were hikeing in the area. This can be found by hiking above the main mine shaft. A trail starts by the small dam and leads back up into the valley. Since this can be found in some large boulders please read the coded message for additional help.
