Geocache Description:

The cache is in a site on the west bank of the Nile over-looking Aswan in the south of Egypt.

Set on an obvious sand and rock hillside with a superb view of Aswan. This is one of our favourite places any where in the world and we would encourage anyone who visits Aswan to cross to the West Bank.

The hill is known as Kubbet al-Hawa (Dome of the wind) and is named after the small dome tomb of a local sheik which tops the hill.
The lower slopes are honeycombed with tombs. Known as the Tombs of the Nobles, several are worth a visit. There is a small entrance fee.

The only way to approach the cache is by boat, either a Felucca, motor boat or the National Ferry. The Ferry should be about LE1 each way, hiring a boat will require a bit of haggling but shouldn't be very much.

Head to the Ticket Office of The Tombs of the Nobles. You may be asked to pay even though you are heading to the top of the hill , but you do not need to pay unless you plan on visiting the tombs. From the Ticket Office bear right and take the path that leads to the North end of the hill.

Try not to involve locals you may meet after crossing the Nile with the Cache search.

After finding the cache you might consider the 'run' down the huge sand dune towards the Nile that starts a little beyond the top? We always run down and love it!
