Although the cache is in the woods, very little bushwhacking will be required. You will spend most of your time hiking on the Appalachian Trail, or a spur over to the AT, to access this cache. There will be some elevation change along the way, a lovely stream crossing and a few rocky areas that are slippery. Be careful.
Dick’s Dome is about 1,355 miles from the Astrodome, but we think it’s a good spot for two native Texans to place a sports-themed cache. Plus, it’s simply a great place to hike!
Dick’s Dome is one of a string of shelters along the 2,168-mile Appalachian Trail. The area is beautiful, especially when there are leaves on the trees. Be sure to bring along a picnic lunch to enjoy at the table beside the bubbling stream. After you find the cache, you’ll want to take your time and relax in this ideal setting.
This cache is one of four hidden along this section of the Appalachian Trail that crosses Blue Mountain in Linden, VA. While you can drive your car closer to each of the other three caches, we hope you’ll take the time to hike from Titan’s Trillium Treasure to the others and back—round trip about five miles.

You’ll be driving several miles on a gravel road (Fire Trail Road), so leave the Benz at home and bring the Jeep.

This is a sports-themed cache. Of course we stocked it with some mementoes from our two favorite teams, the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans, but we also put in some items for fans of all other sports and teams—even the Redskins! So, whether your sport is ping pong, soccer, hockey, baseball, football, basketball or whatever, bring along an item to share and have fun choosing from ours.
