Geocache Description:

This is a little tidbit of local history you may not have known, stop by and learn some more! Read the plaques on both sides of the bridge.

Over 1000 vessels from 30 to 470 tons were built at shipyards along the North River.

The North River's headwaters start at the Indian Head River in Hanson which runs to Hanover starting the North River then goes through Pembroke, Norwell, Marshfield and Scituate where it empties the Atlantic Ocean.

Some of the Shipyard names were: Two Oaks, Smith, Fox Hill, Brick Kiln, Rogers, White's Ferry, Briggs, Wanton, and Chittenden. All long gone!

Parking is permited on the bridge.

To log this as a find, please send us the name of two famous ships built along the North River.
