Along Oatka Trail Traditional Cache

Moderately easy to get to in a beautiful trout fishing area.
Locals call it "the Trail" but everyone else knows it as the Oatka Trail, a winding narrow road that follows Oatka creek on the north side from Mumford to Leroy nestled near the southwest corner of Monroe County. In the early years it was known as just the Creek Road. It was an Indian trail long before it knew the tread of horses and oxen of the early pioneers. It is now home to apple farms and pumpkin patches.
The cache is located near the NYS-DEC public fishing access site which as also known as the “Blue Hole” section on Oatka Creek famous among fly fishermen. Bring your fishing gear as the Oatka is a beautiful crystal-clear waterway holding mostly brown trout, which are mainly stocked fish with some holdovers. If you have the time, feel free to continue exploring the creek past the cache.
Cache container is a .30 cal. ammo box, dark green in color with white lettering identifying it as a Geocache. It has been tethered to it’s location in case of rising water. Original cache contents include the usual goodies that should appeal to just about anyone. Please feel free to bring something to trade that you think might fit into the fishing theme of this cache. If you take something please leave something. It also contains the usual log book to record your visit and comments. Please try and return the cache the way you found it for the enjoyment of the next cachers.
