Winter note: Unaffected by snow (BIG
HINT), but watch your footing in the area (all of it) with
snow/ice on the ground.
Purgatory Chasm is named after just that - a chasm cut in the
rock. When looking for cache, be sure to stop on the foot bridge
and take a look at the chasm. Great views all over the place, and
rocks to sit on. Great stop on your way to, or from, the Sachuest
Point and Norman Bird Sanctuary caches.
The cache is now a smaller container, so please think mini with
trade items. I had 20 foot accuracy when hiding - and accuracy
counts on this hide. PLEASE remember that any
fences/railings/boundaries that you encounter are there for a
reason - your safety - please do not cross any such obstacles.
There is NO NEED to put yourself in any danger when looking for or
retrieving this cache. A child might be helpful when locating the
cache, but only an adult should retrieve and replace the cache.
Remember: I am afraid of heights - if you feel any butterflies when
looking for this, you are in the WRONG place!
This is a muggle-rich place, so please be careful when looking
for and retrieving cache. In fact, it is best to take cache to
another location to do your trading and logging. As cool as this
place is, it is known for partying kids and "cruisers."
Please re-bag the log book. The log book fits perfectly, so
please take the time to not "smash" it into the container. It may
help to take the trades out, put log in, and replace trades.
Thanks!
SOME WORDS OF WARNING:
THE CACHE IS NOT ON THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF THE BRIDGE. IF YOU
CONTINUE OVER THE BRIDGE, BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND NOT THE
GPSr! THERE ARE SHARP DROP-OFFS AND CLIFFS BEYOND THE BRIDGE THAT
CAN BE VERY HARD TO SEE - EVEN IN DAYLIGHT!
SMALL CHILDREN SHOULD BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES. THE ROCK
DROP-OFFS ARE MORE THAN 40' AND SHEAR IN SOME SPOTS AND A RUNNING
TOT COULD EASILY FALL.
TAKE CARE IF HUNTING AFTER DARK! IF YOU HAVE THE TIME, PLEASE
CACHE IN AND TRASH OUT.
