A quick and easy find with a nice view of
the windblown desert sand dunes.
Stay outside the fence; do not go near the fence; do not enter the
Coachella Valley Preserve!
From the cache site you will notice that the
sand dunes are migrating with the prevaling winds...they are
beginning to cover 38th Street.
This preserve was designed to protect the Fringe-Toed Lizard,
"Uma inornata."
Found nowhere else in the world, this lizard is an indicator for a
rich array of organisms specialized to live on sand dunes.
(In fact, desert sand dunes harbor one of the most species rich
communities found in our southwestern deserts!)
