Geocache Description:

A fairly well known landmark here in Fluvanna County. This cache should be easy enough to be enjoyed by all. Don't let the "overall difficulty" and "terrain rating" fool you. This cache is not that hard. We just found a really good spot for it.

This is my second attempt at hiding a cache at this location. The first one was about a year ago and was trashed by some very inconsiderate people a few days after we initially hid it. Granted, I should have made it a little tougher but it was my first time hiding a cache.

So, this time it's a bit harder. I took a little longer and found a really good spot for this cache. Hope you all enjoy the challenge.

This cache is located among a 700 acre park here in Fluvanna County.

There are two different ways to get to it. I'll leave that up to the player to decide which one is the right one.

The folks that have attempted to find this cache have said that it was a long hike. I measured the distance today (11/09/2003) when I went and checked on the cache. The "short" path is .8 miles. According to others, the "long" path is about 2 miles. I double checked the coordinates and wasn't that far from the original ones. The new coordinates have been entered today.

The cache is located in a medium sized plastic container and is hand painted with the Geocaching URL and world logo.

The contents of the cache are as follows:

The "Return of the Heritage Hide" Logbook (with pen and pencil). Please sign the Logbook and let us know who you are and where you're from.

12 Cable ties (ya never know when ya might need these).

1 disposable camera (please take your picture and let us know in the logbook which one ya took).

1 rawhide dogbone (the first lucky dog gets it).

1 tire guage (when was the last time ya checked your tires)?

1 pair of Sponge Bob Squarepants Shoe Laces.

1 4 pack of AA Batteries (just in case the GPS needs them).

1 small padlock with two keys.

1 small flashlight with batteries.

6 colorful penciltop erasers

1 purple moutain climbing hook (you'll know what I am talking about when ya see it).

1 fingernail clipper

1 pyrite nugget (my moniker).

I hope that everyone enjoys this cache. Please do me the favor of hiding it back as well as I hid it for you and if you see any trash along the way, please trek it out with you.

Happy Geocaching!

Pete
