Geocache Description:

This Multy cache will bring you to the old West Point Foundry. This is a very interesting site. The Coordinates only get you to the first part in this 2 stage multy.

Park at the Cold Spring train station N41 24.855 W073 57.433 for a nice walk to the first stage or you can park at N41 25.135 W073 56.791 and pick up the blue trail at N41 25.110 W073 56.815 but from here you have to be very carefull as this trail decends very steeply into the gorge. See the link to the Foundry's Webpage for information on the Foundry site. The West Point Foundry Cove This fairly new hiking area is on the latest edition of the East Hudson Trails map #2 from the NYNJ Trail Conference. The cache looks close to Route 9D and it is but the cache is in a steep gorge and you will have to be extra carefull when you approach from 9D. If you come from the parking area by the train station, take the overpass and go to the platform on the other side of the tracks, from the south end of the platform you will pick up the BLUE marked trail and follow this one to the coordinates given for the first part in this multy cache. You will have to look arround a bit to find an object in a Ziplock bag that has the final coordinates written on it. This object is hidden in a very cool spot betwen the trail and the Foundry Brook. You might have to look for a little bit. If you need help look at the first hint. Once you found the object with the final coords, please rehide where you found it, it is a object of no value as there are tons of them lying arround on the path you will walk on. Once you got the final coordinates, you will have to leave the trail for a little while but there is no real bushwhacking involved as there is very little undergrowth. You will find that there is a much more interesting hurdle to take than brush [;)] If you need hints on finding the actual cache, look to hints 2 and 3. I hope you will have a great time in this amaizing place. Post some pictures if you want....
