Geocache Description:

This cache is the final part of a multi-cache based around Harrogate in North Yorkshire. Four other caches need to be found before this one can be done.

The co-ordinates given above are those of Betty’s the famous tea rooms in the centre of Harrogate and are only used to position this cache in the correct area for searching.
THIS CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE COORDINATES. The cache is within 10miles (16km) of here and can be found at these co-ordinates (WGS84):

N 5a° bc.def'
W 00g° hi.jkl'

In order to turn those letters into the correct numbers you will have to refer to the following:

Villages

Grantley

a=4, c=1, e=7

Ripley

a=4, c=0, e=2

Beckwithshaw

a=4, c=2, e=9

Hampthswaite

a=4, c=0, e=1

Pannal

a=4, c=1, e=4

Towns

Harrogate

b=0, d=4, f=2

Ripon

b=0, d=6, f=4

Knaresborough

b=0, d=3, f=8

Pateley Bridge

b=0, d=9, f=1

Boroughbridge

b=0, d=1, f=6

Dales

Nidderdale

g=1, i=3, k=7

Wharfedale

g=1, i=1, k=6

Swaledale

g=1, i=9, k=5

Wensleydale

g=1, i=1, k=2

Ribblesdale

g=1, i=2, k=2

Attractions

Betty’s Tea Rooms

h=3, j=4, l=3

Fountains Abbey

h=2, j=9, l=2

Hardraw Scar Waterfall

Bolton Abbey

As you can see there are four groups (villages, towns, dales and attractions), each with five words. In order to choose the correct word in each group you will have to visit four caches. Taped to the lid of each cache and also in the notebook is the correct word. The caches are:

Viaduct View (towns)
Fewston Reservoir (attractions)
South Stainley (dales)
Ripley Castle (villages)

When you have all four words, take the appropriate lines from the groups above and substitute the letters in the co-ordinates for the numbers indicated. For example, if the village was Grantley then 4, 1 and 7 would go in place of a, c and e to give:

N 54° b1.d7f'
W 00g° hi.jkl'

Do this for all four and you have yourself a complete set of co-ordinates which will lead you to this cache.

Please refrain from giving any clues to the location in your log entries, whether encrypted or not.
Parking is available a short distance to the North of the final co-ordinates.

If you can't find it or are having trouble working out the co-ordinates from my complicated method above then please email me via the [profile] link. Send me the four words you got from the other caches and I'll send you a set of instructions to help you locate this cache.

WARNING. The area around the cache is heavily wooded and your GPS might not work effectivily. Consider judging the distance and direction from the car park to get near. The GPS will work in an open area near the cache. (you will be able to get to the open area once near) The cache is a small 1.1 Litre box with the following initial contents:-

Magic birthday candles, post-it notes, Astonish stain remover, Exfoliating Soap, Rubber pencil sharpener combination, Can covers ! & Pudsey Bear candle
Good luck and happy hunting…
