Geocache Description:

Aetna Furnace, can be traveled in off road vevicle, very rough road. Moderate walk. Enjoy the view of the river.

6x6x2 plastic container with blue lid.
Contents: log book & pen, fishing lure, fishing float, mini light stick, stick on tattoos, clip pen, small medal.

Here's a little history:
In the early 19th century Aetna furnace at Head of the River supplied the iron for many of the schooners that were built and launched in the Tuckahoe River. Aetna Furnace also supplied most of the nails used in Tuckahoe and the surrounding areas. The Aetna furnace ceased operating in 1832.
