Geocache Description:

This cache is a well-concealed Altoid Tin with a micro-log and a Sling Bullet of Impact. Wandering Monsters (aliens) are abundant so don't fail your Hide In Shadows and Move Silently rolls!

The intrepid adventurers slowly forge a trail through the woods. They follow an ancient path through the trees and find themselves face to face with a lumbering, living mass of rotting vegetation guarding a treasure hoard! A battle ensues!!!

This cache is designed as a GeoHack Encounter Pack. The GeoHack game (by Jeff Aldrich a.k.a. Jared's Seekers) is described in the magazine 'Knights of the Dinner Table' #83. All you need to play is an Adventurer (Character) card. You can download and print a blank or predesigned card from the magazine's website. For a description of the rules, please buy the magazine! Until then, a brief explanation can be found here or inside the cache. The cache also contains the special rules regarding a GeoHack Encounter Pack.

I'm starting the cache with a Shambling Mound guarding several powerful items and a make-shift micro-log (and a penny in case you haven't a coin to flip). I have left a 'magical' sling bullet of impact (it'll make more sense when you see it...basically I couldn't fit anything else in there) in case someone wants to visit without playing the game. I figured that the bullet might come in handy if the Shambling Mound proves to be an impassable foe!

What is a Shambling Mound, you say? A Shambling Mound appears to be a heap of rotting, putrid vegetation. In fact, they are intelligent creatures with a 'brain' located deep inside their bulbous frame. They are very silent and invisible in their natural surroundings, often ambushing warriors in the woods. Perhaps you've been walking a trail and suddenly your foot is entangled in a creeper or your clothes are snagged on a branch? You should consider yourself lucky. It was probably only a juvenile Mound. An adult would have eaten you before you could free yourself! Wise adventurers have heard rumors that 'Shamblers' are unnaffected by electrical damage.

I should mention that this Encounter Pack is probably too difficult for a beginning Adventurer. You may need to hone your skills with some other GeoHack monsters before attempting to take on a Shambling Mound!
