Geocache Description:

At the very top of Squaw Peak!

No, not THAT Squaw Peak. This is another peak located on Squaw Mesa in the Tonto National Forest, about 6.25 miles south of the town of Young, Az. Depending on which way you come from, you can count on 15 to 30 miles of maintained gravel road with lots of dust and washboard. Any vehicle should be able to drive it. (We saw a Cadillac sedan while we were in the vicinity.) A short drive off the main road will get you within .15 of the cache but that's where the fun starts. From there, it's all uphill. There is lots of undergrowth and you will have to blaze your way to the top or fix on one of the many game trails. Views from the top are spectacular. The cache itself is a 1 gallon paint container complete with tools for opening and re-closing the lid. It is chock full of goodies (listed below). Once you reach the coordinates, the cache location may or may not be obvious. There are also 3 benchmarks all within a few yards of the cache for those of you who are into benchmarks. Have fun but be careful.

For the adventurous, there's a nice spot on the northern side of the hill where you can slide on your posterior to the bottom of the hill. Be careful!
