Geocache Description:

This is a microcache placed near a historical marker in Waller county.

It is a 15 minute drive from Hempstead and this particular marker was placed near the encampment spot of George A. Custer, his wife and his unit in 1865 after the Civil War.

The marker sits outside the gate of Liendo Plantation, which today is privately owned. They offer tours of the plantation the first weekend of every month and also host a Civil War weekend each year.

During the Civil War, Liendo was the site of Confederate Camp Groce and a prison for Union Soldiers.

A very historically rich site.
