Geocache Description:

Witches Cove Trail 42 22.390 71 29.017

Witches Cove Trail 42 22.390 71 29.017

Aye, she's a witch! Ats whye her heart ist upside down! Pumps her blood down first and keeps her feet toasty, but she's got to ware a pointy hat to keep her head warm!

And that's why our witch had a crash landing in the woods - trying to land at a geographic feature resembling an upside down heart. It's not obvious on a topo or aerial map, but if you view the trail map at the following link, you'll see it:
(visit link)

You can also link in to this from the Tri-Town Junction cache page:

Find the witch, and you'll find the cache. But BEWARE!!

Parking (about 3 cars) is in Marlboro near the Hudson border, at The Desert trailhead at the junction of White Pond Road, Parmenter Road, and Concord. There may be some trail maps available there. There are other ways in (from Sudbury), but remember, there is safety in numbers when dealing with witches.

There are two other caches in this area, but who would want to risk that adventure on a night like tonight?

The trek in is about 1 mile of established trails on pretty level ground. There is no bushwacking involved. It should be a fun night hike with a headlamp or flashlight. I would guess it would be suitable for youngsters. Smiley will make a repeat performance to guide you to the cache. Depending on the number of people who show, geocache teams may be “gated” (requested to stall) a short distance from the cache. This will allow the group ahead to find the cache and restore it so you can have a search, too. When you are at the cache site, make sure you spot Sadie and her crash landing.

Glow in the dark necklaces will be provided to serve as protection from rouge bands of Halloween trick or treaters. Non wearers may be subject to frights from Team Pantalaimon (see Tavern of the Damned).

The trick is to find this cache prior to midnight of Halloween night. At the stroke of All Saints Day, it turns from a Halloween event cache to a regular cache.

The cache is well stocked with kids Halloween goodies. Bring a AA battery for the flashlight you can get. Don’t leave anything, there is no room.

Smiley the guide will remain in place during the following Saturday for the non-nighttime Halloween revelers to appreciate the decorations.

Brought to you by the Halloween Geocache Event team of maskvolk.

Extraneaous measures have been taken to prevent WaldenRun from an early find, or even a first find.

Last year, I did supply the coordinates early to a geocacher from Connecticut, so he could complete his trip by a reasonable hour. It was agreed he would be excluded as first finder.
