Kung Fu Kacher #1 -- Raising Caine Traditional Cache
Lumberjack Tom: Alas! Caine has escaped the oversight of Master Po and is apparently walking the streets of San Francisco again. Because the cache is obviously AWOL and the site has grown to the point that it is no longer attractive or appropriate for a cache, I am pushing the archive button, as I intend to do for the entire series. It has amply served its purpose, and its time has simply arrived.

Kung Fu Kacher is based loosely on the Kung Fu television series produced by Warner Brothers from 1972 through 1975. The series starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine, the son of a Chinese woman and an American sailor. Caine was orphaned early in life and became a student at the Shaolin temple, where he studied to become a Shaolin priest under Master Po. Forced to flee China for killing the Emperor’s nephew in retribution for the killing of Master Po, Caine ended up in the American West, where he searched for his half brother, Danny Caine, and experienced every situation Hollywood could contrive. The series was acclaimed for its flashback sequences featuring philosophical discussions between Master Po (Keye Luke) and the young Caine (Radames Pera), who Po referred to as Grasshopper. It is these sequences that Kung Fu Kacher will hearken back to.
Caine: Master Po, I’m confused.
Po: About what, Grasshopper?
Caine: Where I came from…. Who I am…. What my purpose is….
Po: Grasshopper, like the trees, you came from the earth. But unlike the trees, you define who you are by your actions and decisions.
Caine: True enough, Master Po. But how do I know what my purpose is?
Po: Your purpose is to help others to see, Grasshopper, just as I help you to see. Your purpose is the same as mine.
Caine: Master, I see you as a wise and patient man. How do you view me?
Po: You, Grasshopper, are like a fine piece of jade, and it is my duty to shape you into a symmetrical and harmonious whole. I am here to help you acquire knowledege, even if certain things are unknowable.
Caine: If I am your disciple who would acquire a knowledge like your own, then what possibly can I provide for you, Master?
Po: The doors of the Temple have no locks, Grasshopper.
The cache is a 32oz. wide-mouth Nalgene bottle containing school kid baubles, a "What's this?" sheet, a pen, and the log, which is rolled up inside a white 35mm film canister similar to a micro.
