Falling Rock Hollow Traditional Cache

Max Cacher: Greetings from Geocaching.com

It looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While we feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. So that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If you are in the process of replacing or repairing your cache please e-mail me in response to this archival, and I will unarchive your cache.

After we posted a note to you cache requesting a response from you to post what you were planning to do with the cache on the page and sending us a note. We have no record of a response, and no response tells us that you are not planning on replacing, or repairing this cache if we are wrong with that assumption please let me know.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Geocache Description:

To get to this cache you need to head west from White Rock Mountain and travel on the road to Mountainburg. The cache is on the most southwestern part of Alexander Mountain.

At N 35 deg 41.650 and W 93 deg 59.703 turn left (south) please note that there are two roads within a few hundred feet. You will need to take the most westernly road. Travel down this road onto Alexander Mountain until you reach a fork in the road at N 35 deg 40.671 W 93 deg 59.449. Turn right on this road. At N 35 deg 39.742 W 94 deg 00.621 you will come to an open area and another fork in the road. You can park here and walk from this point. Take the left fork of the ATV type road. This cache is not someplace to take the family sedan. You should use either an SUV, Pickup, ATV, Mountain Bike or your legs. Most of the distance can be covered by a vehicle but in bad weather you will need a four wheel drive to be safe. As you approach the cache please be careful. Although these are not particualarly tall bluffs, this area if very remote and as a result any minor accident can become a major event.

The cache is a .50 caliber ammo can and is located a short distance from the viewing point. I have not placed it right at the point. You are on the extreme southwest point of Alexander Mountain. This area is interesting to me from an geological standpoint in that since the Ozark Mountains are actually an eroded plateau and not mountains in the sense that the Earth's crust was folded. This area is particularly large by Ozark standards. At one point is is almost two and 1/2 miles wide and fairly flat. I encourage you to enjoy the point and if you have time to explore some of Alexander Mountain. The topographic maps needed for this area are Fern and Bidville.

The cache originally contained a log book, travel bug, baseball, rubber ball, a deck of cards and various other items. Please let me know if you have any comments on this particular cache.
