This cache is located on the North Downs Way close to the village of Shere.
I suggest you park at Newlands Corner, located at:
51 13.969N 000 30.382W
There are lovely views to be had here as well as toilets and refreshments.
From the car park cross the A25 road (please be careful as it can be busy) in to the woodlands.
Walk along the North Downs Way for about 1.8km until you come to the sign for “West Hanger”.
A “Hangar” is a typical feature of downland and is a wood comprising of beech trees growing of hanging in the steep chalk sides of combes.
Take the next bridleway on the right and start to look for the cache located at:
51 13.860N 000 28.662W
You are looking for a green ammo box.
As I have said this cache is located on the North Downs Way which is a 141 mile National Trail which links Farnham to Dover. This part follows the Old Drove Road which is also called the Pilgrim’s Way in memory of past people using the route on a pilgrimage to Canterbury.
The path is a bridleway so if you want to take your bikes you could enjoy some safe off road cycling and devise your own loop back to the car park.
