Designed by the Minnesota Highway Department in 1938 as a public wayside and rest area, Lookout Park served as a popular recreation spot for many years. It's unfortunate that it has been vandalized and neglected. The view is spectacular; enjoy it while you're here. You may even see bald eagles.
It is a very short walk to the cache from parking at the entrance. Because of the debris, drive into the park at your own risk; the people who use this area seem to leave their cans, broken bottles, etc., behind. We picked up 2 bags of trash here on CITO Day, and there is still a lot to be picked up.
