Geocache Description:

The cache is located in Pendleton King Park in Augusta, Georgia. This park is open daily and admission is free. Please observe park rules and keep the grounds clean. The cache consists of a large plastic screw top jar which has been partially painted black. The cache was recently vandalized so it has been rehidden near the original place. Please re-hide the cache carefully to prevent its accidental finding by non-cachers again.

One of Augusta's best kept secrets is Pendleton King Park. It consists of 64 rolling acres of land nestled neatly in the hill section of Augusta. The estate was created by John Pendleton King, an Augusta Judge and a US Senator who was instrumental in developing the GA Railroad and Augusta Canal. In his will, his son Barclay King designated the area as a bird sanctuary. Pendleton King Park is a site of many gardens, and treasures are to be found throughout the park. Look for the army tank, the graves of the Bugg Family, Lake Elizabeth, nature and hiking trails, a totem pole, a gazebo overlooking an arboretum, the camellia garden, azalea walk, the Sunken Blue Garden and the Touch and Smell Garden. A disc golf course and tennis courts are also available to the public.

Directions to the Park: Driving East on Wrightsboro Road, turn right on Troupe Street. Pendleton King Park is approximately one-half mile on the left. The park is generally open during daylight hours.
