Geocache Description:

This cache is a hotel for travel bugs to reside until they can be moved on to fulfill their goal.

Of course you're welcome to just sign the log and log the find, but please do not take or leave anything except travel bugs! And as always please be discreet, but especially with this cache as it's holding a lot of travel bugs that have owners who would hate it if the cache were comprimised.

Please do not take ALL the travel bugs. It's OK to take more than one if you can genuinely help them toward fulfilling their goal, but try to let everyone have a chance to participate.

If you can help a bug on it's journey, it's OK to just stop by and pick up one without leaving one. And of course it's OK just to drop one off without taking another one.

Unless the bug's goal is attached, please try to remember write it's goal in the log book so people can decide which bug to take.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOG ALL BUG TRANSACTIONS IN THE LOG BOOK AND ON THE WEB PAGE.

The History of the original San Carlos: the imposing, seven-story structure opened on the original site in 1910 as the city's largest and most elegant hotel. Designed by the well known New York architect W. L. Stoddard, it was built by the local firm of C. H. Turner Construction Co. at a cost of $500,000. Its simple masonry design was embellished with Renaissance Revival exterior details. It was extensively "modernized" and expanded from 157 to 403 rooms in the 1920s, and continued to dominate the Palafox streetscape for the next 50 years. Increasing competition and gradual deterioration led to its closing in 1982. It was demolished in 1993 and has been replaced with the United States Court House Building. This new hotel is quite a bit smaller but almost as elegant as the original, while definitely providing the same hospitality as before.
