This area is favorite of OHV's Watch out for dust devils. The average car with a smart driver can handle this terrain. Mostly powerline roads.
Well we've been here many times and love this area for exploring. However today after placing the cache we were reminded just how dangerous the lonely desert can be. We stepped on a snake and had a bullet fly by us all in a space of 5 minutes. This area is a favorite of local shooters. We heard people shooting all the while but they were far enough away and the shots were not coming in our direction so we didn't worry about it. All of a sudden we heard a zing go by. The sign of a ricochet gone astray. Always be cautious in areas where people might be shooting. As for the Rattlesnake I stepped on, I think he must have been sleeping ... what a rude awakening for him ... he slithered away with his feelings hurt I think cause he didn't hang around to argue with me. (This one was very young so expect many to still be in the area.) There is a lot to see in this canyon and lots of exploring to do if you have time. Old mines and caves ... some remnants of days gone bye. Take your time and enjoy.
