Ever since I moved from York County to a nearby condo, I've wondered about the strange little area behind one of the local shopping centers. It appears that someone has crafted a sort of mini-driving range out of the land, complete with a couple of flags to aim at, and using what appears to be a water runoff as a hazard.
More interesting than that, though, are the paved areas back here, roped or chained off to vehicular access. A planned roadway that fell through after paving was complete? Plans for some kind of industry, business, or residency that didn't get funding? Or just a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing down at City Hall? We may never know.
We may also never know what the strange, old-looking brickworks around here are for either. I can't even fathom a guess on that one.
Regardless, the locals (myself included) have found this a suitable place to take walks, go jogging, or to try to work on our slices. And now, it's got a cache. Cache is an ammo can, not too far off of one of the paths. It's a little harder to get to now, post-Isabel. Please hide as well as you found.
Suitable parking can be found at the afore-mentioned shopping center, or along Patrick Henry Drive. Parking at the post office or in the condo complex is not recommended.
