When I was a kid we used to drive to Lake Wenatchee for the day via the Tumwater Canyon. My dad never believed in going the same way home that we came if it was possible. So we would go home via the town of Plain. We always looked forward to coming home this way because it was usually near dark and dad would pull in at the dump near Plain so we could silently sit in the car and wait for the bears to come out of the woods and feed. Now to a child under age 10 this was quite a thrill. Now years later the dump is gone but as I go home this route and see the bears in the lawn of the house on the right as you go up the hill toward the hairpin curve the memories unfold. From the distance they look so real. Enjoy your visit to Plain!
