This cache is in the Marston Hills Annex of Balboa Park, San Diego, Calif. Paul, Kristine, Colin (age 11), Marina (age 8), and our puppy Millie created this cache as a family outing in one of our favorite-yet-secret areas of Balboa Park.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Below the Marston House, you will find various pathways heading east down the hill. Pick a path and start hunting!
- There is no need to cut trails/pathways. This is in a beautifully forested section of Balboa Park. There is no need to walk off of a pathway until you have walked far down the paths and the ground has leveled out. Cutting paths can destroy the beautiful foilage and cause erosion.
- Geocachers Beware: Not a good spot to geocache at night because of potential homeless people in the area -- and because of crumbling turn-of-the-century river-rock stairways.
- Geocachers Beware: This is a beautifully forested glade in the middle of Balboa Park -- however, being in the middle of one of the largest cities in California, please be aware that homeless people sometimes seek refuge in this area. Although I have not run into anyone else in this area, please be cautious about retrieving this cache.
- PLEASE PLEASE take the time to cover the ammo box back up with pine-needles and leaves when leaving the area.
- For interesting information about George Marston (and his wife Anna Gunn Marston) — the founder of Balboa Park, Torrey Pines, and Anza Borego parks — see the printed info inside the cache.
