Nestled down in the southeastern part of Albany county is Joralemon Memorial Park, whose woodlands are described as the “best in our area” *. The western part of the park is primarily the traditional softball/tennis/picnic and pavilion recreation space seen in most municipal parks. However, our cache is secreted on the east side of Rt. 102, and there the landscape changes.
Here you will find a number of trails through some 100-plus acres of woods, limestone ledges, rock outcroppings and a marsh. The area is noted for its wide variety of trees and plants, particularly ferns. There’s even an old lime kiln dating back to the mid-18th century. Most of trails are marked, fairly level and clear, with a minor rise or two.
In order to best show the highlights of the park, we chose to multi-cache. Park at N 42° 28.293, W 073° 51.778 on the west side of Rt. 102, just north of the Ravena Fish and Game Club. Across the street you will see the marker for the Blue Trail...
READ THE HINT!!! READ THE HINT!!! (Note: GPSr readings were a bit erratic while placing the caches. Took best of multiple readings, but...) The final cache is a camouflaged ammo box. Initial cache items include:
