Cache is located at the summit of Mount Taupiri, a sacred mountain.
Originally placed with permission and adopted by Butterfly Lady.
Be prepared for an uphill walk - two tracks, first one is the challenging one. 2nd is slightly less so, with smaller depth to the steps.
To access, go up the gravel road and over the railway crossing (see map). Follow road to second carved gate.
Track goes up mountain and is fairly easy to follow, though can be slippery in places when wet.
First track starts off through gorse but soon enters regenerating bush.
Cache is a steel ammo can.
Bring a camera - on a fine day the views are breathtaking (and so is the climb)
