Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at posted coordinates. The cache container is an ammo box. To obtain the coordinates of the cache find the answers to the clues at the Walney Visitor’s Center, Cabell’s Mill and The Pond. (see below, way below)

For the final stage, stay on the trail as long as possible. There is alot of deadfall at the cache site but the ammo box is in plain view when viewed from the right angle.

“A Walk Through Time” at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park

Ellanor C. Lawrence Park comprises 660 acres and is home to the Walney Visitor Center, Cabell's Mill/Middlegate complex, Walney Pond, various historic ruins, picnic tables, sports fields and hiking trails. Visitors will find a unique experience whether visiting to bird watch, hike, exercise, discover the natural and cultural history of the land, picnic, participate in organized sports, attend an educational program or just relax.

Please observe posted signs, stay on trails until you are near the cache and notify the Walney Visitor’s Center (703-631-0013, closed Tuesdays) of any trail obstructions or other problems.

Park has a nice, staffed visitor center where you can purchase trade items and sign up for events. First aid, restrooms, water and assistance are available. The park is pet and kid friendly.

The Pond was created in the 1950s and the land
was later donated to the Fairfax County Park Authority in 19b1.
