One of our “No Parking Here…” series.
This themed cache is placed in a section of a Cook County forest preserve that is a nice hike from the parking lot. If you come from there, be careful crossing the road. There are numerous game trails and even some unmaintained paths, but some light bushwhacking might be necessary. Mosquitoes might be bad in the summer because of the standing water, so this is a perfect cold weather cache.
This area is generally low ground and can be wet and sloppy depending on the recent weather conditions. This doesn’t seem to bother the deer, as they must like to hang out here. If you are quiet, you will likely see them criss-crossing through here on the numerous ruts and scrapes they have created. You can also see many trees that have buck rub on the lower bark.
The small sized ammo can is hidden in an area that has many downed trees, most facing in the same direction. Our simple theory is a microburst storm must have pushed them that way. It’s starting out with the theme of handy items you could use to survive while out caching. Inside are a small flashlight, lightweight glove liners, roll of duct tape, wallet, bungee, thermometer, spring clamp, and shoelaces.
Because finding parking is part of the difficulty of this cache, we’ve added an extra half star to the difficulty level.

This one could be difficult to find because the GPS signals bounce around here. Coordinates should be right as we averaged them from multiple checks on 2 visits. It should be on high enough ground to stay dry and accessible, and we will watch it and move if necessary. Please seal it, and cover and replace as found to avoid muggles. Enjoy your hunt!
