Horse Pond is an often-stocked trout pond off Rt. 85 in Salem. Trails are somewhat primitive, but the cache can be reached from either side of the pond without too much bushwacking.
The DEEP's website distinguishes Horse Pond as one of 11 trout parks in CT. What's a Trout Park, you ask? A trout park is a pond or stream that is stocked weekly with trout from the state’s fish hatcheries, and is located in an easily accessible area. The frequent stockings will greatly increase an angler’s chances of catching a fish, making it a more attractive "fishing hole", particularly to children and families. So bring your fishing pole along with your GPS and catch some dinner while you're there.
A map of Horse Pond can be found at: (visit link)
btw - the clue is a dead giveaway, so only peek if you really need it.
