Geocache Description:

The 6th in a series of caches placed around the Fylde Coast in Lancashire - this one is a multi cache showing you different aspects of Blackpool Airport.

This is a 4 stage multi cache. Gather clues from the first 3 and find a small tupperware container on the final stage.

Stage 1

The hunt starts at the radar tower on Lytham Moss which is 1 mile east of the main runway. Please note that there is another cache on the south-west side of the facility -

This was the first cache I ever found (by accident) and the one to blame for getting me interested in geocaching!

Using the published co-ordinates gather the following information.

Find the correct sign with eight words on it.

A = The numerical value of the first letter of the third word
B = The numerical value of the last letter of the eight word

Stage 2

The next stage takes you to a patch of waste ground (apologies for any tipping) where you get an excellent view of the runway. Some big passenger jets take off from Blackpool these days so you might be lucky!

Go to N 53 46.187 W 3 00.797 (park at N 53 46.472 W 3 00.953 or thereabouts and follow the footpath around the airport perimeter fence.)

If you look to the east you'll notice the radar tower about 1 mile away. However, you'll need to look in other directions to collect the required info!

C = The number of red runway lights to the west
D = The number of skylights on the building to the south minus five

Stage 3

The next stage takes you to the entrance to the airport.

Go to N 53 46.696 W 3 02.654

Now gather the following information.

What three word name do you see here?

E = The numerical value of the second letter of the first word
F = The numerical value of the first letter of the third word

Stage 4

The final cache can be found by completing the co-ordinates below.

Please make sure the cache is covered well as it is in a busy area during the season.

Good luck - no doubt you've noticed a pub or two on your travels (The Shovels at N 53 46.750 W 3 01.050 or thereabouts near stage 2 is CAMRA pub of the year!)
