A Walk In The Fen Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lindave: This was our first hide and we are sad that we have to say goodbye to it. Unfortunately the bridge over the creek has been pulled down and there is no good way to get to the hide. Perhaps in the future there will be another bridge and a place for a new cache. Thanks to all the cachers that made the trek out here. Linda & Dave

Geocache Description:

Park at N 42 11.640, W 88 18.800

Fens are wetlands that occur where mineral-rich ground water seeps from glacial formations such as gravel hills. At the Lake in the Hills Nature Preserve the limestone gravel makes the ground water rich in calcium. Rare plants that thrive in this alkaline water bloom throughout the growing season. Our thanks to the Steward for his help and for permission to place the cache. Thanks also to tenof16 for providing the starter kit, in We Kame, We Saw, We Cached.

This is a two part cache, the coordinates listed above will take you to part one. You are looking for a small wooden sign. Count the letters and multiply by the number of words. Add the result to N42 11.810 and subtract it from W88 19.610. Enjoy the rest of your walk which will be about 1.6 miles total, roundtrip.

Please stay on the trails, no bushwhacking is allowed or required. Also no bikes or dogs. Plant life will soon return and this area will be beautiful. There are a few areas that will be a bit wet after the spring rains so plan accordingly. (Edited 2/21/06)
