Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the Connecticut College Arboretum which has over 750 very diverse acres which include the landscaped grounds of the College campus as well as the surrounding plant collections, natural areas, and managed landscapes.

This cache is the first in an upcoming series to explore the Connecticut College Arboretum. Arbo-nanza is intended to be a very easy and family friendly cache that will get people to see the most basic trails in the Arbo. Park at N41 22.704 W72 06.540 and then enter the original portion of the Arbo - the Native Plant collection. At the entrance there are pamphlets that will take you on a self-guided tour (which will bring you right past the cache), but use the map to explore other areas too which all have very beautiful phases throughout the four seasons. This is a 20 acre area with easy walking trails and special collections of plants throughout. Bring a picnic and enjoy the Outdoor Theater area that overlooks a 4 acre pond!

The Arboretum is open from sunrise to sunset and there are Sunday tours at 2pm (see related website).

Future caches will explore other areas of this vast natural museum and will be more difficult, but this is a quick half hour cache in a lovely setting. Enjoy!
