Located in Crooked River Preserve, a small but wild plot of land owned by the Lake County Water Authority. Placed with enthusiastic approval from the LCWA. Thanks to Rob and Don (the original owners) for placing this cache in such a great place.
Some history: this cache was the first stage of a multi-cache hidden by Rob & Don in late 2003. They allowed finding the first stage to count as a find back then. I found the cache within a week of moving to Clermont in 2005.
In March of 2006 I took over maintenance of the cache, spruced it up and moved some of the stages. About a month later, the LCWA closed it due to vandalism. It was closed for almost two years.
Finally, after the park reopened and I was able to get back in to check on it, I found it had held up nicely. I've removed the other stages and made it a single cache in anticipation of other caches being placed nearby.
About 100' from the main part of the orange trail. The trails in the preserve can get a little confusing without a map (which you can grab at the entrance). Just remember that once you find the orange trail again, keep the marsh/river to your left and the road you hear to your right to make your way back to the parking lot.
