Geocache Description:

We placed this cache way back in 2003. At that time, the best way to reach it was to park at the other end of the boardwalk, which was accessible from N. Main St. That area is now paved and part of the new walking trail. Since our last visit, the City of Hendersonville has paved and extended the walkway all the way from Jackson to Patton Park. The best place to park for all of the caches along this walkway is now a small area directly accessible from 7th Avenue East. The coordinates for this area are N35° 19.484 W82° 27.139.

Oklawaha Greenway sign
This is where you will begin your geoadventure.

To locate this cache, you will park at the above parking coordinates, and proceed just about .75 miles along the trail. The cache container is tiny, home-made, and contains a log sheet. The cache is less than 10 feet off the Mud Creek side of the trail and is approximately 5 feet off the ground. Please ensure the cache is completely covered with leaves when you leave.

Please be discreet when searching for this geocache, because since the area is now so popular with hikers and bikers, there will most likely be lots of muggles enjoying the trail. Also, keep in mind that animals have much more sensitive noses than humans, so please do not place any scented items into the cache (such as soaps, food, candy, candles, etc.) which animals may mistake for food.

A three-holed tree!
This tree could fit the bill...

Good luck on your geoadventure!

UPDATE: This cache used to be hidden in one hole of a beautiful, old, three-holed tree. The tree was recently cut down, most probably due to health reasons. The remaining stump still has two holes in it, neither of which we wanted to replace this geocache. So, we replaced it in a smaller, multi-trunked tree, almost directly across the street. The cache container is a small white pill container, hidden from casual view, and contains a log. Enjoy your geoadventure, be discrete, and be safe.
