Geocache Description:

This is a cache for adventuresome off road-cachers only. While only about 4 miles from the highway this one can be casual or difficult, depending on your approach. The casual road is a little bumpy but in general easy on your vehicle. The difficult way in is more direct but is only for vehicles with good tires and clearance. A kidney belt is also recommended for this route. :-)

Easier route turn off highway at N 37 46.728 W 118 27.844 or the more challenging route turn on Christy St (directly across from the turn off to HWY 120) and then left at the dump. In both cases keep your eyes on the mine tailings - this is your destination. *A HINT* - when you take the easier route DO NOT be discouraged by tumbleweeds!

This cache site is located at Montgomery City, an historic mining town circa 1860s. At one point in time this site was populated enough to support two newspapers - but you'd never guess that looking at the site now. There are about 10 stone ruins amidst the sage as well as one wooden cabin.

piggy bank, ceramic picture frame, funny button, mini calculator, pocket day planner, beach ball, book of temporary tattoos, blank 60min cassette, CHP bubble pen, CHP carabiner key chain, tooth brush & dental floss, slot machine toy, rabbit fur ball, LED magnet light, directors card key chain, snap light, mini snap light, silver necklace, wallet address book, gold flower lapel pin, silver necklace, snap light, mini snap light, cervinos postcard, breathe right strips, sewing kit, shower cap, dove refreshers, and galena samples from a nearby mine.

If you want some more challenging road fun continue past the wooden cabin and up the canyon. This road ends at a small but very scenic waterfall!
