Kolomoki Mounds Cache Multi-Cache
crrust: I am going to archive this one folks. The park has moved some of the signs that were clues to the combination on the cache box. But, do not despair...I have it on good authority that a new cache will be placed in the park with the help of the park staff. So...stay tuned.

in our disclaimer.
The park manager of Kolomoki Mounds State Park has authorized this cache. No caches can be placed on Georgia State Park property without the express consent of the park management.
This is the second cache placed in Kolomoki Mounds State Park. The first cache was placed in 2001 and confiscated shortly thereafter due to a State Park policy, at the time, which banned Geocaching.
This is a multi-cache with a small twist. The cache box is located inside the park office/museum. You will need to plan your hunt during regular park hours, 8am to 5pm daily, to allow yourself access to the cache. The cache box has a combination lock on it so you can’t just go to the cache and open it up. First you must explore the park and collect some clues. I would suggest stopping by the park office first to pick up a map of the park, but that of course, is up to you...
Here are the places you will need to visit:
1. Swift Creek Trail N31°27.846 W084°55.619
The above coordinates are for a micro cache hidden
somewhere along the trail. The trail is a bit rough
but is well marked by orange trail markers. There
are some steep places so be prepared.
You will need to park here:
N31°27.879 W084°55.214
and then walk to the trailhead which is here:
N31°27.747 W084°55.258
The number in the micro is the first digit of the
combination lock.
2. Temple Mound N31°28.137 W084°56.416
This is a sign in front of the temple mound. The
sign discusses the age and physical characteristics
of the mound and the surrounding area. Find the
height of the mound according to the sign. This
will be your 2nd and 3rd digits in the combination.
3. Mercier Mound N31°27.980 W084°56.807
The family that once owned the property that is now
Kolomoki Mound State Park buried their family
members on top of this mound. You need to locate
the head stone for Lucretia Ann Cordy and find the
third number in the year that she was born.
(example - if she were born in 1986 then you would
use 8).
This is the last digit in the combination.
4. Park Office/Museum N31°28.095 W084°56.901
This is the final leg of the hunt. Get the cache
from one of the park rangers in the museum. Using
the numbers that you have collected from around the
park open the combination lock on the cache.
Please sign the log and take a picture. The
logbook is from the original cache that was
confiscated almost 3 years ago. I thought it would
bring something to this cache to use it.
Hunt safe and obey the park rules. There is a $2.00 parking fee required on all days except for Wednesday.
