Gone Fishing Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Heartland Cacher: Greetings,

It has been a while since I first looked at (Gone Fishing). I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache so it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings.

When you have repaired this cache, drop me a line and I can review it again for listing on the geocaching.com site.

If you don't care to continue on with this project, please remove any remaining cache bits from the area.

Thanks for your understanding,
Heartland Cacher

Geocache Description:

This is a three-step multi-cache. The first two steps will take to you some unique spots in Lincoln. Your final goal is a Rubbermaid container. Original contents center on a fish theme (plus two travel bugs). Note how the original logbook and pencil also follow the theme.

Begin at the posted coordinates. Find Disc Golf Basket number 7. Count the total number of chains on the basket and multiply by 2. Plug your answer into the following coordinates to find destination two: N 40 50.0xx W 096 43.345

Destination two is an incredible place, one of Lincoln's best kept secrets, in my opinion. While you're there, take some time to look around. (Be sure to stay on the trails.) At the coordinates you will see many interpretive signs. Under the heading "Explorers and Emigrants," find the year that the salt basin was first referenced in European journals. Add 1100 to the year and plug the answer into the following coordinates to find destination three: N 40 49.992 W 096 4x.xxx

Destination three will take you to the cache. Try to trade something that follows the fish theme, if you can. Travel bugs are also welcome.

NOTE: This cache is in the same location previously occupied by the "Cornhusker" letterbox. I have added a stamp pad and stamp for use by letterboxers. These items are not trade items. They are to remain in the cache for use by letterboxers who find the cache by mistake.
